Overview
Our Annapurna Chitwan adventure is specifically crafted for families in mind. We have combined a short and easy hiking trek to the magnificent Annapurna foothills with an exotic safari to Chitwan National Park and an exploration of cultural sights and sounds of of Kathmandu and Pokhara.
Our adventure starts in the wonderful Kathmandu where we will explore various World Heritage sites as well as special cultural show on the first night. From Kathmandu we will head off to the picturesque Pokhara situated on the wonderful Fewa Lake.
From Pokhara we will begin our trekking adventure into the foothills of the Annapurnas. This is relaxed walking though lush oak and rhododendron forest allowing both parents and children to explore the stunning mountain scenery, terraced hillsides and the varied lifestyles of different ethnic groups.
There is no problem with altitude on this short hike. The majestic and breathtaking mountains vistas from Ghandruk, Ghorepani and Poon Hill are simply a Himalayan wonder and a great place for all the family to experience together. Each of our family expeditions are fully supported by an experienced team of porters and guides ensuring you and your family have both an immersive and safe journey.
When the Annapurna trek is finished, we drive to Chitwan National Park in search of the Rhino and the Bengal Tiger. From there we fly or drive back to Kathmandu to complete the Annapurna Chitwan Family Adventure – an experience you will remember for many years to come.

Routes
Note : We can run this trip for a family of 2 plus. If the dates do not suit we can run a private journey on dates that suit you at no extra charge.
Day 1: Arrival / Welcome Dinner
Our staff will be waiting for you at Kathmandu’s International Airport. After escorting you to your hotel, you’ll have plenty of time to rest and relax before our evening dinner. Meet your teammates over a traditional Nepali Set and enjoy a dance performance with various cultural themes. Bring your camera! Guests often join the revelry.
Day 2: Cultural Tour of Kathmandu
Explore Kathmandu’s historic and cultural sites, including the towering white dome of Boudhanath and riverside Hindu temples of Pashupatinath. In the afternoon, we’ll distribute all necessary gear for our trek and answer any questions about what to expect in the days leading up to Annapurna Base Camp.
Day 3: Pokhara (850m)
Green rice fields and the tiered farming countryside will be ours to savor as we make our way to the start of our trek. We’ll spend time in Pokhara, a charming city nestled beside Fewa Tal. Downtown Lakeside boasts shops, restaurants and bars where you can bargain for souvenirs and register for yoga classes. Rent a boat and paddle into the middle of the lake to take in views of snow-capped Fishtail Mountain. At night, there’s plenty of live music and even an outdoor movie theater.
Day 4: Ghandruk (2050m)
Today’s route stretches towards the charming Gurung settlement of Ghandruk where endless stone paths wind like mazes through quaint homes and local homestays. Rice fields surround the village, and you can spend your afternoon wandering through the picturesque alleyways. To reach Ghandruk, we will cross rice terraces and climb a seemingly endless number of staircases. Not to worry, we will take our time enjoying the mountain scenery and getting our bodies used to higher elevations. Our evening accommodations are pleasant --- a warm eco-lodge with freshly prepared meals. Some may choose to sample “tin-pani” raksi, alcohol fermented and brewed from millet and rice.
Day 5: Tadapani (2650m)
After ascending through rhododendron and magnolia forests, we will stop for lunch. Our destination is the small township of Tadapani. Guesthouses here are limited but comfortable, and we can enjoy steaming coffee along with gorgeous early morning views. The rest of our journey will appear remote in comparison to this bustling community.
Day 6: Ghorepani (2810m)
The trail to Ghorepani is a little more difficult than the past two days however we will be rewarded with fantastic views of white Himalayan peaks. A welcoming guesthouse will be our stop for the day, and after filling our bellies with a freshly cooked meal, we’ll go to bed early in preparation for the sunrise climb to Poon Hill.
Day 7: Poon Hill (3210m) / Thirkhedhunga (1540m)
We’ll use headlights to follow the trail leading to Poon Hill. The mountains will stretch out before us, and the morning sun will colour the horizon purple and gold. After enjoying views of snowy peaks and taking plenty of photos, we’ll return to Ghorepani and reach Thirkhedhunga.
Day 8: Nayapul (1070m)
Today is an easy down hill trek yo Nayapul where we will be met by our driver and taken to Pokhara. We will overnight in Pokhara.
Day 9: Drive to Chitwan National Park. We will depart after breakfast for our 4 hour journey through the Nepalese countryside. This is a fascinating drive through farmland down to the Terai (the lowlands that separate India and Nepal).
Day 10: Full day Jungle Safari in search of Rhinos and Tigers. The day will be split into two with Safaris in the morning and 1 after lunch. The Terai and the jungles that form this area are home to many species of wildlife including the One Horned Rhinoceros, Royal Bengal Tiger and Gharial Crocodile. The park harbors not only the world’s largest terrestrial mammal (wild elephant) but also the world’s smallest terrestrial mammal (pygmy shrew).
Day 11: Return to Kathmandu. The drive will be approx 4.5 hours through both primary forest and agricultural land. Overnight Kathmandu.
Day 12: Return home
Our guides will make sure you arrive at the airport with plenty of time to catch your flight and say good-bye to your new friends. Like many visitors who travel to Nepal, “Pheri Betaula,” or, “See you later,” is the easiest way to depart. You may not want to leave!
